Decendants of Samuel G Dennis Sr (1735)

I began research on my Dennis ancestors around 1975. Access to online information was very limited. Most of the early compilation of data came from family memories and an occasional birth or death certificate. Process was slow and tedious.

As the information on the internet increased and technology and hardware to access it improved, additions to our family history followed suit.

The easiest trap you can fall into is assuming that a relationship between individuals exists only because many researchers have made the same connection. Rule here - VERIFY, VERIFY and once again, VERIFY.

The information presented here has some of my early mistakes. It begins with connecting Joseph H Dennis to Jesse Dennis (born 1803). Seems to be logical based upon circumstantial facts such as early census records, both of them living in the same area, etc. Going back even farther, connecting Jesse to Samuel G Dennis Jr and his father Samuel G Dennis Sr, is a stretch.

I present the information here only as a possibility since DNA testing has muddied the water considerably.

Any thing before Joseph H Dennis is NOT verified. I present it only as a possibilty.
