  D/O William Cheatwood and Jean Flournoy. Elizabeth was born in Powhattan County, Virginia. She married first John Dennis/Tennison on March 3, 1798 in Caswell County, North Carolina. They had 5 children together. Upon John’s death, Elizabeth was left with five very young children. Elizabeth was a lot younger than her deceased husband. Her step children were almost grown and relocating to other locations. Elizabeth remarried Edmund Lyons by 1811 in Caswell County, North Carolina. Edmund and Elizabeth moved to Overton County, TN along with the majority of John Tennison’ older children. Elizabeth and Edmund had several children together in addition to her minor children from the Dennis marriage. Elizabeth Lyons died before Edmund. He likely died in Overton County. He was last known to be living with Levi and Susan Dennis in Overton County, TN on the 1860 census. Levi Dennis' son, Levi H. married Edmund and Elizabeth’ daughter, Rebecca Lyon.
