    • Ambrose fought in the Revolutionary war. He enlisted in 1777. Fought in battles York, Germantown, Stoney Point, Newark, MiddleBrook. Wounded in the knee at MiddleBrook in 1779.

      Enlisted at Orange Co, VA in Feb 1777 and served three years. Discharged, Philadelphia, PA - Feb 1780. Served in the 14th Virginia Infantry under Col Charles Lewis (who resigned 28 Mar 1778) and in the company of Capt Moses Hawkins. (Captain Hawkins enlisted 6 Feb 1777 and was killed at Germantown.       Sally, his wife, applied in 1833 for Widows pension based upon Ambrose Revolutionary war service. Pension application W2989. Application was witnessed by John MANN and his brother Peter MANN.
