- George W. Tennyson is the oldest known member of the lineage of DNA test, Lowell Tennyson, He was born 1803. He died in 1883 in Warrick Co., IN. He married Emila WRIGHT in 1825 in Spencer Co., IN. She was born 1808 and died 1868. He was the father to 12 Children, two which died in infancy.
George could not read or write. His last name was spelled with an "I" in Tennyson instead of the "Y". It is believed that the family changed the spelling about 1880.
There were three men including the above mentioned George W in 1820 census of Warrick Co., IN. The other two, John and Robert moved to the neighboring county Warrich Co., John Tennyson purchased land in 1841 in Warrick Co., IN. It is believed that he died about 1842. George W. Tennyson buried his son on the land of John Tennison in 1843. It is believed that they were brothers. John's wife Margaret was listed as a widow in the 1850 census. The land that John owned first, then George W. was sold to Issac Garrison and now is the Garrison Cemetery, north of Tennyson, Warrick Co., IN
It is believed that the three, George, John, and Robert were brothers and that they had one sister named Nancy.
George's oldest son Daniel Jackson [b.1830] left Indiana in 1868 and went to Taney Co., MO; then to Boonville, MO for the birth of several children before he went to Bosque Co., TX. Daniel lived out his life in Hill Co., TX, dying there in 1910. He was buried in Prairie Grove Cemetery.
Daniel was the father of 19 children. He had 8 by his first marriage to Sara PHILLIPS. One son from this marriage was the Elijah Tennyson, grandfather of the DNA Test, Lowell Tennyson. Daniel then had 11 children with his second wife, Charlotte, (last name believed to be BRAND).
Information from Lowell and Sandra Tennyson, email to S Green Sept, 2007 note from Sue Green- This is our only known line to have lived in the state of Indiana during the 1800s. It is very interesting in that this lineage tested close markers from Carl C. Dennis and his KY line. It is believed that Carl's line descends from John Sims Dennis line. Several of John Sims Dennis family had moved from VA to KY.
Research. Ann Frasier thought that the above George W. was George Washington son of Absolom Tennison [abt. 1765 MD- aft 1840 TN]
with the following lineage backwards:
