      Sue Green-
The questions of ABRAHAM's marriages and wife/ wives death dates is still unsolved. Early researcher, Faye Tennyson Davidson descends from this line and did all the early legwork in the migration of this family from St. Mary's county to North Carolina and Tennessee. In her book published in 1991 she states that this Abraham had one wife, Mary Stevens and that the whole family moved to Buncombe County, NC in the early 1760's. She states that Abraham was in Edgcomb Co. NC before Dec. 1767. Several pieces of documentation prove this so.
This does not jive with the information provided on Mike Marshalls web site "Colonial-Settlers-MD-VA-US" Mr. Marsall is a well respected researcher and built his web site with much information from Ralph Smith as well as Linda Reno and other researchers of that period and location.
The following document is the one that raises questions:
" Dec. 13, 1768.- Abraham Tennison, of St. Mary's Co., planter, and Judith his wife, deed to Abraham Barnes, of St. Mary's Co., Gentleman: (1) "Brookes Land"/"Draper's Neck" (100 acres), and (2) "Abraham's Struggle" (27 1/2 acres.)"
Marshall's site states that Abraham died aft 1769 and his wife Judith who died in St. Mary's county after Dec 1768. This is about the same time that researcher Faye T. Davidson cites Abraham, son of Absalom [b. before. 1713] and wife Mary Stevens [Stephens] moving to North Carolina.
I have researched all the Abrahams in our family trying to find another man who could match with a wife named Judith who signed land deeds with her husband in 1768. Also the following land transfer must be considered because it deals with the land "Abrahams Struggle ".
Nov. 1768 -27 acres patent for "Abraham's Struggle," in St. Mary's Co., Md.

About 1768-1770 - Abraham Tennison and wife deed property to Abraham Barnes. [ Source: Maryland Provincial Court Land Records, Liber DD No.4 (1765-1770), p. 566.]
The brief summary above is taken from the Index to Liber DD No.4, which is contained on MSA Mircrofilm Roll SR 2296. I have not seen the actual record.
Comment from R. Smith: No county is given in the Index but one would expect it to be St. Mary's Co. I have estimated the date at 1768-1770 because I presume p. 566 is getting near the end of the 1765-1770 period covered by Liber DD No.4.
Is this perhaps the sale of "Abraham's Struggle?"
Faye Davidson states that Abraham Tennison #2f was in Edgcombe Co., N.C., by Dec. 1767, however, she still attributes the 1768 patent of "Abraham's Struggle" to this Abraham. I have no particular difficulty with her analysis, there being no other known Abraham Tennison in St. Mary's Co. at this time. [Contributed By Ralph Smith]

Dec. 13, 1768 - Abraham Tennison, of St. Mary's Co., planter, and Judith his wife, deed to Abraham Barnes, of St. Mary's Co., Gentleman: (1) "Brookes Land"/"Draper's Neck" (100 acres), and (2) "Abraham's Struggle" (27 1/2 acres.)
